Mark Eastman

Chef Mark is the owner and operator of Chefs' Haven, a gourmet store and learning  center for novice and experienced chefs in Hockessin, De.  His experience includes 25 years in the food industry.  Mark attributes most of his talent to his mother and his quality education at New England Culinary Institute www.neci.edu Montpelier, VT.    Eastman, 49, has worked at various area restaurants such as the four-star Brasserie Perrier in Philadelphia, Pa. and the Dilworthtown Inn in West Chester, Pa.  He specializes in preparing fish, meat, sauces and soups.  Sharing his knowledge is his passion.

At Chefs’ Haven, which opened in December 2008, Eastman provides high quality pantry and kitchen equipment and gadgets, knife sharpening service, the highest quality chocolates available, gourmet desserts and confections, and basic cooking ingredients such as irreplaceable demi glace and hard to find spices.  In addition, Eastman has brought together some of the region’s best artisans selling primitive style hutches and tables, restaurant quality butcher blocks,  beautiful functional pottery and original kitchen artwork.  

Mark's main service at Chefs’ Haven’s is to teach passionate home cooks the proper way to prepare food, and provide the necessary tools and ingredients to accomplish a most impressive end result!

Eastman, his wife and Chefs’ Haven co-owner Majella, and their two sons live in Landenberg, Pa .

Glen Githens - Baker

Glen is originally from Salem County, NJ. He started as a dishwasher in the late 90’s, and through a combination of good luck and hard work he learned about the craft of baking. To improve his skills, he has worked at a number of local bakeries and restaurants including the Terrace Restaurant at Longwood Gardens. Glen is currently working at Gilda’s Biscotti for Gilda Doganiero, a former pastry chef at Brasserie Perrier. Having taught classes in the early days of Chefs’ Haven, he is ready to return and share his knowledge of baking with all our customers, new and old!

Radwan Al-Haddad - “The Spicy Chef”

Radwan has been the Chef/ Owner of The Spicy Chef for the past 3 years. He epitomizes the fresh and creative future of “Mediterranean Cuisine”.

Radwan's diverse talents and successes come as no surprise to those who know him. Growing up in Damascus, the City of Jasmine, the Oldest City in the World, he spent hours in the kitchen enjoying the aromas of his mother's and grandmother's cooking. After pursuing a medical degree he still felt a longing throughout the years to share those flavors with others. It first started in 2007 when he decided to enter Green Bank Mill's first annual bread baking contest, and to his pleasure was awarded “First Place”. Since then, “The Spicy Chef”, has provided unique, delicious, authentic artisan breads, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Foods. He is currently offering his products through Newark Natural Foods in Newark, Delaware and by special order online. Due to numerous requests he will soon be adding cooking classes to his repertoire. And looks forward to being surrounded by others who share his passion for creative cooking.


Chef Dominicke Hayman 

A Delaware native, Dominicke had a desire to set out and see any and everything. That desire was enhanced upon deciding to pursue culinary arts after high school. After four years at Johnson & Wales he graduated with a BS in Culinary Nutrition. Not two weeks from graduation, he headed to Florence, Italy to immerse himself in the lifestyle and cuisine of Italy. He returned and immediately put his time to use working at one of Rhode Island’s best Italian eateries. His experience also includes time at Wilmington’s own, famed Green Room of Hotel DuPont. Currently Dominicke is enrolled in the MS Human Nutrition program at University of Delaware in an effort to realize his goal of bridging the gap between healthy food and fine cuisine; making sure the food you eat to live, is the food you LIVE TO EAT!
